Visit by the Burundian and Rwandan Delegations to the Project Site

On December 22nd, 2014, the delegations from the Government of Burundi,accompanied by the delegation of Rwanda and YUMN Ltd. has made a site visit in order to understand the methodology and the technology to be used in the project.

The Burundian Delegation included Minister of Energy and Minister of Water, Environment, Land Management and Urbanization and Head of Electricity Utility whereas the Rwandan Delegation included the Minister of Energy and the Head of Electricity Utility and his technical team.

YUMN LTD. Representatives, consisting of advisors from THEMIS (Project Manager) and SWECO (Technical and Environmental & Social consultant), have informed the delegation on the peat harvesting methodology and the environmental standards to be satisfied for the project.

The visit to be very productive in terms of clarifying the concerns on the Burundian delegation regarding the use of water from the river, and explaining the technical design of the project and its rationale.

On December 23rd, 2014, the delegations of Burundi and Rwanda entered into a Memorandum of Understanding through which they formalized their cooperation in developing trans boundary Power Projects.
